More About This Course
This course is designed to give school staff a clear understanding of why educational settings are frequently targeted by cyber criminals. It explores the potential impact of cyber attacks on pupils, staff, school systems, and daily operations, highlighting the importance of vigilance at every level.
Learners will examine common cyber threats affecting schools, including phishing emails, vishing phone calls, malware, ransomware, and emerging risks such as AI-generated scams. The course focuses on helping staff recognise warning signs early and understand how these attacks are commonly carried out.
The course also provides practical guidance on protecting accounts and sensitive data through strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, encryption, and safe use of devices. Learners will gain confidence in recognising cyber incidents, responding appropriately, and knowing when to seek advice or report concerns, including support available from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
