More About This Course
This Domestic Abuse Awareness course is designed for professionals working closely with young people. It provides a clear understanding of what constitutes domestic abuse under UK law, including non-physical forms such as emotional, psychological, financial, and controlling behaviours. Learners will gain insight into the dynamics that sustain abusive relationships and the barriers victims face.
The course explores the short- and long-term impact of domestic abuse on adults and children, including trauma, mental health challenges, behavioural difficulties, and effects on family life. Special emphasis is placed on recognising the signs of abuse and understanding how children are affected even when not directly harmed.
Learners will also develop practical skills to support young people through trauma-informed strategies, safeguarding processes, and interventions that promote resilience, emotional literacy, and stability. By the end, professionals will be better equipped to identify concerns, take appropriate safeguarding action, and contribute to a safer, more supportive environment for children and families.
