More About This Course

The Prevent Duty Training Course helps education professionals understand their legal responsibilities under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act (2015) and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE). Based on the Home Office’s Prevent Duty Guidance, it explains how Prevent fits within wider safeguarding practices to protect children and young people from radicalisation.

Learners explore what radicalisation is, how it occurs, and how to recognise early signs. The course addresses common misconceptions about Prevent and highlights that it is about safeguarding and support, not surveillance or punishment. Case examples and scenarios help staff apply an “it could happen here” approach to identifying concerns.

The course introduces the Notice, Check, Share framework, guiding staff through recognising, assessing, and reporting risks effectively. It also explains how to share information appropriately and in line with school procedures. By completion, participants will feel confident in fulfilling their Prevent duty and helping keep pupils safe from extremist influence.
